RE: What GPS is good for RVing

I don't think any have the ability to show height clearance. Maybe the GPS software for laptops can do it. (Streets & Trips, Co-Pilot etc.) As for avoiding certain roads, I know that Garmin units let you select certain things to avoid. Toll roads, highways, U-Turns etc. Garmin has a unit called the Streetpilot 7200 and another called Streetpilot 7500. These are (according to Garmin) made for trucks/buses/RVs. They have a 7 inch screen and should allow you to choose which vehicle to set it up for. Meaning, if you set it to "Car", you can take any road. Set it to "Truck", "Delivery", "Bus" or "RV" and it will automatically route you around roads where those larger vehicles wouldn't normally go. That doesn't mean it's avoiding those roads due to low bridges though.

RE: Lojack for a RV

Checkout www.ZoomBak.com for a possible solution. You can set it up so if the vehicle leaves a designated area, you'll be notified via email and/or text message. So just set up the boundary to the smallest possible area. If the trailer moves a foot, you'll know. :B You can also run those very hard to cut bike cables through the wheels rather than having to put the trailer up on blocks and lugging tires home with you.

RE: 2009 Jayco 37 rlqs

I wonder if they're using the new Dimplex Opti-Myst fireplace. Search YouTube for Dimplex Optimyst and checkout the very real looking fire.

RE: 6 slides

There are different sects of Amish. The "Old World" Amish don't use modern things (except maybe machines for their cow milking) and some other Amish groups use cars and cellphones. There was a show on a few nights ago about the Amsih when they let their kids go off into "our world" and these kids had cars, cellphones, smoked, listened to music, cursed, drank and used drugs. But I think all Amish use bikes.

RE: Finally picked out the RV we want..

I like the Denali 31sbbs. It was one of my choices until I saw the Jayco Designer 35RLSA.

RE: Locking 5th wheel so can't be stolen

Invest in a tracking device so if it is stolen, you can find it.

RE: diesel fuel

I heard somewhere that they (whoever "They" are) were working on using algea as a fuel source. Hell if that's true, I'll be filling up from my Koi pond. :B

RE: Storage Compartment key - security alert

Those Combi-Cam locks may have a default factory setting of "0-0-0" so anyone can still get in. I know it's like that on briefcases. You can set your own code but the "0-0-0" option is there as a backup.

RE: Watch the height restrictions

This should be shown to the next person who askes if it's okay to let people ride in the trailer.

RE: Side Aisle 5ers

Bumpy, the Jayco Designer 35RLSA is the model with the street side aisle. Very nice looking unit. I just wish it had the 35RLTS living room.

RE: Side Aisle 5ers

I don't have a 5er yet but when I get one, it'll be a side aisle. My theory is this: Sitting in the living room and looking towards the bedroom, if you have the side aisle, you see more wall space then the stairs leading to the upper level. So that kind of tells you "There's so much more space in here." If you have a center aisle and you look to the bedroom, you see right into the bedroom and think "Well there's the other end of the 5er......man this doesn't seem so big after all.".

RE: Stop Using "THEN"

Their, they're, there. I have one that annoys me. The word "Height". I hear so many people pronounce the word as "Hyth". I think to myself....."It's heigHT! not --TH." Not that I'm an english major or anything, but it just bugs me. I guess those nuns instilled something in me back in grade school. Vulcaneer, I can beat that. One day at work I was teasing this guy about arm wrestling. I told him "Juan, there's no way you can beat me. I'm invincible." He looked at me for a couple of seconds and said "Whatchu talkin' about? I can see you." Then there was this guy named George who was my helper when I was delivering beds. He carried a futon box to the front door (we had to assemble it), rang the bell, the guy comes to the door, George doesn't introduce himself or say what company he's delivering for. The first words out of his mouth are "So where's this going?" Needless to say the guy was puzzled and asked "Where is what going?". This all happened as I was walking towards the two so I heard everything and then informed the guy we had his futon. So he looks at George and says "Oh, it's going in the basement." George then askes the guy (and he wasn't kidding around) "Your basement's downstairs, right?"

RE: Scooters

Aside from the Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki dealer in town, just down the road from them is a small shop (so small that I don't know if they'll stay in business) that sells Aprilia and Kymco. When I mentioned the cheap Chinese scooters he said he worked on some so I guess if I need work done, he'd do it even though parts are hard to come by. But there are places online that can get the parts. I've visited the ScootDawg scooter forum and the brand I'm getting is made at one of the top 2 factories in China. And alot of forum members who have the Lance scooter report minimal, if any, problems. The engine is a Honda clone so again, parts shouldn't be too hard to come by. I can't justify spending $3500 on a Kymco Bet & Win 150cc when I can get a 150cc for $1300. With the money I save, I can rebuild the Lance if need be. I might just use the Lance to get my MC endorsement and then sell it and buy a Suzuki Burgman or Yamaha Majesty 400cc. Ugh! If only I had that 6th number on my lottery ticket. :(

RE: Scooters

Same here in CT. Under 50cc, all you need is a regular driver's license. No plates, insurance or registration required. Over 50cc and you need the motorcycle endorsement, registration, plates and insurance. The one I'm getting is a hair bigger than a 50cc frame so if I stick some "49cc" decals on it, maybe the cops won't know the difference. ;)

RE: Designer 35RLTS and Jayco Talk...Thanks Frank!!

Wow, first The X-Files, then Home Improvement, then Malcolm In The Middle and now the 35RLTS post. :-( All good things must come to an end. Fortunately, you guys created a spin-off. :B

Just wondering what brands and sizes you take with you. I'm too big for a 49cc. I just ordered a 150cc Chinese made (supposedly from one of the better manufacturers) scooter that'll be prepped and assembled by the importer and shipped to my door for around $1360. Yes I'd love an Italian made Aprilia 250cc but not for $4700. Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki are between $6000---$8000 so they're out of the question. I don't have a 5er yet (someday HotByte....someday lol) but while I'm paying off my truck, I'm slowly gathering things I'll need. (more like, things I want). I've seen some pics of people with their cruiser style motorcycles on a front bumper hitch and I don't want this thread to turn into a discussion about how having a scooter on the rear bumper of the 5er will be too heavy etc., etc.. I was just wondering what scooters y'all have. Pics are appreciated. If anyone is interested, I ordered the Lance GS R 150. Pics can be seen at www.ScootersFactory.com I almost went for the Lance Interceptor but the GS R 150 is cheaper. Gotta save money for a 5er. :)
